June 4 - The first monopiles constructed by SIF Group and Smulders Group for the Eneco Luchterduinen offshore wind farm have been transported to the Verbrugge Terminals at the Port of Vlissingen in the Netherlands for storage.

In July 2014, the monopoles will be shipped out and installed by engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) contractor Van Oord using its newbuild heavy lift jack-up vessel Aeolus.

The Eneco Luchterduinen wind farm comprises of 43 wind turbines with a combined output of 129 MW, sufficient to power 150,000 households.

The offshore wind park will be installed 23 km from the Dutch coast at Noordwijk and is scheduled to be operational in 2015.

With a 200-hectare capacity and over 3,000 m of heavy duty quayside, Verbrugge claims that it offers the proper infrastructural conditions and handling experience required for this projects.
