June 6 - Volga-Dnepr Airlines has agreed to position up to three of its IL-76TD-90VD freighters at Paris Vatry International airport.

With immediate effect, Volga-Dnepr will base one of the aircraft at the Paris gateway to meet growing demand for air charter operations.

The airline is a leader in the market for the movement of heavy and oversized air cargo and has invested over USD100 million in a fleet of five new generation IL-76YD-90VD aircraft.

The new equipment has an increased payload and range, higher fuel and operating efficiencies, and lower emissions than older IL-76 models The new aircraft comply with all of the International Civil Aviation Organization's (ICAO) current and prospective operating standards. This enables Volga-Dnepr to serve markets around the world that banned the older IL-76 freighter model - including Europe, North America, Japan and Australia.

Youri Busaan, director general of Aéroport Paris-Vatry commented: Over 90 percent of our cargo business is from charter operations because Vatry has a great cargo infrastructure that is available 24 hours a day. Now we also have a great charter aircraft available at the airport that is unrestricted for global operations."

Volga-Dnepr added the move would enhance the capability of its Engineering Logistics Centre, which provides door-to-door services for complex heavyweight and outsize cargoes.
