Wind energy revolution at Corpus Christi

October 13 - Revolution Energy has begun the construction of its "Harbor Wind" wind energy farm at Port Corpus Christi, USA.

The wind energy farm, located on the north side of the Port's inner harbour, is believed to be the first wind energy farm located on industrial port property in North America.

"Our Port is proud to be one of America's wind energy ports leaders. The Revolution Energy project marks a step forward towards the Port's support to the future of clean energy." said John LaRue, the port's executive director.

Revolution Energy began developing the project in 2006. It is scheduled to be operational in early 2012 with six wind turbines installed at a total cost of USD20 million with over USD7 million contributed to the local economy in construction-related activity.

When the farm begins its operation, it is expected to generate 30 million kWh/year of clean energy, equal to the electricity needs of nearly 2,500 homes.

The Port has been very supportive of this project from the very beginning. Our wind project is another sign of the diversification of energy supply at the Port and the local community, said Tibor Hegedus, general manager, Revolution Energy.

Founded in 2005, Revolution Energy is a veteran-owned small business dedicated to developing, owning, and operating renewable energy assets in the United States. In developing its projects, Revolution Energy strives to find the right balance between renewable technology, project economics, and environmental impact.
