April 19 - Members of the Worldwide Project Consortium (WWPC) gathered at the Hard Rock Hotel in Panama City for the network's 16th annual membership conference.

The event began with an evening reception on the 62nd floor terrace of the hotel, followed by two days of networking, member-to-member meetings and social events.

Opened by Damaris Berenguer, ceo of WWPC member for Panama, Quality Freight Corporation, the conference also welcomed deputy administrator for the Panama Canal, Mr Benitez, who gave a presentation on the importance of the waterway's recent extension.

After a number of sponsor presentations and meetings, WWPC members attended the Miraflores Locks on the Panama Canal for dinner, before returning to the hotel for an after-dinner party on the terrace organised by Quality Freight.

During the second day of the conference, the network held its annual charity auction, managing to raise an impressive USD25,000 for Pro Ninez in Panama. Auction items were donated by Ruslan International, Hoegh Autoliners, Rickmers-Linie, Combi-Lift, BNSF Logistic and HLPFI.

WWPC members elected Elmer Sarmiento of Royal Cargo in the Philippines as a new board member, while Willy Hoffmann of BNSF Logistics, Dirk Roethig of LS Cargo, and Ahmed Dahshan of KML Egypt were all re-elected for another 12-month period.

The end of the conference saw delegates vote to hold the next annual meeting in Cebu, the Philippines during March 2017.
