Zeus tows out of Ostend

Two gravity based foundations, built by the Jan De Nul Group and Smulders, have departed from the port of Ostend, destined for the Danish offshore wind farm Kreigers Flak.

The foundations, weighing 10,000 tonnes and 8,000 tonnes, were loaded on to BOA Offshore's heavy lift barge Boabarge 37, and will be towed to the wind farm using the tug, Zeus of Finland. The foundations are expected to arrive on January 15.

According to Jan De Nul, depending on weather conditions, the first foundation will be installed by the end of January followed by the second foundation a couple of weeks later.

Once the foundations have been installed, Jan De Nul's multipurpose vessel, Adhémar de Saint-Venant, will start with the ballasting and scour protection works.

Kriegers Flak, located in the Baltic Sea, will consist of two parts. Kriegers Flak A, the west section, will have a total capacity of 200 MW, while the east section, Kriegers Flak B, will have a total capacity of 400 MW.
