Copenhagen in inaugural Bilbao call

April 27 - The first of a new series of tweendecker vessels from MLB-Manfred Lauterjung Befrachtung has made its inaugural call at Bilbao, Spain with ships agency operations being undertaken by Bilbao-based, MLB Spain.

The 107 m long Copenhagen, a 5,679 dwt geared multipurpose vessel, is the first of seven ships in a class that the Emden, Germany-based shipowner and operator Manfred Lauterjung is considering will support two regular routes linking Europe with South America East Coast ports while a second service links the Maghreb countries.

Copenhagen, and its sister Esbjerg, are both strengthened for heavy cargoes and feature two hydraulic cranes on their port side, able to lift 60 tonnes at 19 m and 45 tonnes at 26 m.
