Höegh Autoliners has placed an order with ballast water treatment system manufacturer Optimarin for ten retrofitted units.
The agreement follows previous individual orders for the UV-based technology over the past two years.
Höegh Autoliners will receive the first of its ten units this month. The remaining systems will be installed aboard the carrier’s fleet through unitl 2023.
The Optimarin ballast system (OBS) satisfies all IMO and USCG requirements, with certification from a range of classification organisations, including ABS, BV, DNV-GL, LR & MLIT Japan.
