Work at the Revolution Wind offshore wind project has been cleared to resume following a court ruling in Washington, DC.

Revolution Wind is a 50/50 joint venture between Skyborn Renewables, part of Global Infrastructure Partners, and Ørsted. On January 12, the US District Court for the District of Columbia granted a preliminary injunction sought by the project company in response to a December 22, 2025 suspension order issued by the Bureau of Ocean Energy Management (BOEM).

The ruling allows affected construction activities to restart immediately while the underlying legal challenge to BOEM’s August 22 and December 22, 2025 director’s orders continues. The project said construction work will resume as soon as possible.

A sweeping order issued late last year by the US Bureau of Ocean Energy Management (BOEM) resulted in the suspension of work at all five current offshore wind developments along the Atlantic seaboard. The order cited national security concerns but provided no substantiation of what those might be. Within days of the order, three of the four main developers, as well as two states, filed suit to have the latest order vacated.
