Global logistics provider Geodis has opened an office in Guadalajara, Mexico, following growth of the company’s freight forwarding activities in the country.
The office – which measures 2,789 sq m – integrates the company’s Americas Center of Excellence (CoE), a strategic hub that includes key logistics operations for the entire Americas region, into the country’s product portfolio.
In Mexico, Geodis will now centralise its freight forwarding services – including maritime, air and inland – as well as Customs and foreign trade, project logistics and supply chain management.
“Not only are we able to expand our growing freight forwarding line of business in the region with this new location, but we are adding new logistics solutions to our product portfolio to best support our customers,” said Miguel Muñoz, managing director at Geodis Mexico. “This new facility is a direct reflection of our ongoing commitment to growth in the region.”
Guadalajara was chosen as Geodis operates a direct route with bi-weekly flights from China and Hong Kong to the Mexican city, as well as strategic connections from the port of Manzanillo and corridors to the USA and Canada, which reinforces the opportunities presented by nearshoring.
Geodis now operates 14 buildings and 2,717 employees across Mexico, with 442 staff members operating out of the Guadalajara office.
Earlier this month, HLPFI reported that Geodis had launched Geodis AirSmart, a low carbon solution aimed at reducing greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions by leveraging performance.
