North Carolina Ports (NCP) has added a Liebherr LPS 420 rail-mounted gantry harbour crane at its terminal at the port of Morehead City.
The LPS 420 is the first rail-mounted gantry harbour crane Liebherr has delivered to the USA. It arrived at the port in autumn 2019 and was equipped with a special curve running gear, which allows the crane to travel through a 90-degree bend with an inner curve radius of 90 m.
NCP’s unit was also equipped as a multipurpose crane capable of handling grain and fertiliser as well as project cargo, including wind turbine components, trains and rails.
