Mammoet wins contract extension

August 22 - Sibur, one of Russia's largest gas processing and petrochemicals companies, has extended its contract with Mammoet Russia for logistics and installation operations at the ZapSibNeftekhim Petrochemical Complex construction site in West Siberi

The extended scope of the contract now covers the unloading of more than 300 oversized and heavy components, with a combined weight of 20,000 tonnes from the river port in Tobolsk, with subsequent transport and installation at the construction site. ZapSibNeftekhim will become the largest modern petrochemical facility in Russia.

The project incorporates a steam cracker producing ethylene, propylene and butane-butylene fraction (BBF).

Alongside the steam cracker, units are being constructed to produce various grades of polyethylene and polypropylene.

The facility is designed for conversion of a substantial portion of the by-products produced from oil and gas extraction, including associated gas.

It also aims to provide polymers that are in high-demand for the Russian market. The facility will contribute significantly to the economic development of Tobolsk.

Over the last year, Mammoet has worked effectively with PJSC Sibur to ensure operations were executed safely and met all deadlines.

Mammoet has unloaded more than 200 oversized and heavy components - weighing between 30 and 917 tons (27.2 and 831.9 tonnes) - in the river port of Tobolsk. Subsequently these were transported over 23 km to the construction site where they were lifted and installed.

Components covered by the extended contract are lighter, with the heaviest column weighing 480 tonnes, but the amount is greater, at more than 300.
