April 15 - India's Mundra Port and Special Economic Zone Ltd (MPSEZL) is developing as a facility for the handling of over dimensional and heavy project cargoes in India.

Already this month it has handled rail coaches destined for the Delhi Metro and seen the heavy lift of a 585 tonne boiler, measuring 15.29 m x 11.77 m x 13 m, manufactured by Thermax Ltd and destined for Al Jubail in Saudi Arabia.

This was the heaviest floor-mounted single piece boiler exported by Thermax from India as well as the heaviest project cargo handled by Mundra Port. Thermax has a 7.5-acre area in the SEZ, which was established with Mundra Port's facilities in mind, along with the associated benefits of the SEZ.

Mundra Port has overseen the movement of project cargoes for companies such as Reliance Industries, Reliance Petroleum, ABG Infralogistics, Electotherm, Oman Refineries, BHEL, Cairn Energy, Sumitomo, Adani Power, Tata Power and Rajwest Power.
