Norden has completed the acquisition of Thorco Projects. It has been integrated into Norden Projects & Parcelling, which falls under the company’s freight services and trading business unit.
HLPFI readers will recall that Norden agreed to acquire Thorco Projects, diversifying its offering into the breakbulk, wind energy and steel shipping business, on May 26. The deal has since been approved by the Danish Competition Authorities, marking the first acquisition in Norden’s 152-year history.
With the integration of the business, Norden said it now provides services within specialist general cargo segments such as breakbulk, steels and wind energy-related cargoes.
Thomas Mikkelsen, the former ceo of Thorco Projects, has been named head of projects and parcelling at Norden. He said: “By being part of Norden, we are able to optimise and establish new trading routes, while adding new customer benefits by leveraging Norden’s strong reputation and expertise within decarbonisation, intelligent use of data and risk management.”
