He will focus primarily on the energy sector, working closely with Ivan Oceguera, UTC Mexico country manager, and reporting to Marco Poisler, chief operating officer global energy and capital projects.

HLPFI reported in October that de los Santos left Tradelossa after a 15-year stint at the company. He started out on the international business development team before being promoted to commercial director and then to managing director. Before Tradelossa, he worked with GE in finance, marketing, and production capacities.

“Rafael’s boots-on-the-ground knowledge of the projects market in Mexico is unparalleled. With a proven track record of success in the US and Mexico, he will work with targeted accounts with heavy haul and specialised trucking needs,” said Poisler.

He also sits on the board of directors at the Specialized Carriers & Rigging Association (SC&RA). He has previously been elected twice to the transportation governing committee, which determines the ongoing strategy and future of the association.
