Danish heavy-duty equipment manufacturer N.C. Nielsen has delivered a reachstacker capable of lifting 152 tons (137.9 tonnes) to Blue Water Shipping.

According to Blue Water Shipping, it is the world’s strongest reachstacker and has been put into operation at the port of Esbjerg.

As an alternative to cranes, the reachstacker will help with the lifting of wind turbines, nacelles, frames and structures in conjunction with Blue Water Shipping’s other heavy-duty machines.

The machine has been designed to overcome the challenges of the increasing size of wind turbine components, as well as the carrying capacity of the soil in the storage area.

“Now we can handle the heaviest lifting and transport tasks by combining our equipment,” said Søren Messmann, general manager for the port services division at Blue Water Shipping.

“For example, we can lift items up to 250 tons (226.8 tonnes) with the world's largest reachstacker at one end and one of our 100-ton (90.7-tonne) reachstackers at the other end – or operate with extremely heavy items hanging on the hook,” he added.
