February 21 - Grove has unveiled the 100-tonne capacity TMS9000-2 truck crane.

The crane features a 51.6 m, six-section Megaform boom that utilises Grove's Twin-Lock pinning system. According to Manitowoc, the greaseless boom reduces maintenance for owners.

Despite the length of the boom, the TMS9000-2 is approximately 363 kg (0.36 tonnes) lighter than its predecessor, and measures 13.4 m in length and 2.6 m in width.

The crane will offer manual or hydraulic swingaways, along with additional inserts, to provide further reach options, says Manitowoc.

Meanwhile, rival manufacturer Terex has upgraded the Demag AC 500-8 all-terrain crane, to help it gain access to the US market.

The upgrade means the all-terrain crane complies with the United States' Tier 4 emission standards. According to Terex, the first order from the USA has already been placed and is due to be delivered later this year.

As well as the emission upgrade, the unit features the IC-1 Plus control system. The system provides instantaneous capacity calculations, based on the slewing angle, for every crane configuration, says Terex.
