The first of two 800-tonne Goliath cranes destined for the port of Chioggia is nearing completion.

The lifting and erection of the main girder for the first Goliath crane was completed earlier this week, with full assembly expected by the end of December. The second crane will be completed by spring 2026.

Cimolai Technology is responsible for the engineering, manufacturing and delivery. Armando Cimolai Centro Servizi (ACCS) is tasked with production of the structural components. The entire assembly and testing process has taken place at Cimolai’s Chioggia facility, located within the Porto Val da Rio area.

Each crane has a total height of 110 m with a span of 118 m. The units are capable of lifting up to 1,600 tonnes when working in tandem. The units will be shipped directly to their final destination in Monfalcone, near Trieste, as two separate barge deliveries.
