Trailer manufacturer TII Group has delivered three heavy-duty vehicles for POSCO, South Korea’s largest steel producer, at its electric arc furnaces (EAFs) plant.
TII Kamag specially developed the trio of vehicles for in-plant heavy-duty transport at POSCO’s new steelworks at its Gwangyang site in South Jeolla Province.
The delivery comprised an industrial lift transporter (ILT) that measures more than 22 m long and is equipped with two underfloor driver’s cabins, designed for the safe transport of pallets carrying up to 500 tonnes of molten steel. It has a payload capacity of 518 tonnes.
TII Kamag also provided POSCO with a pair of its slag pot carriers (SPC) in platform type, each offering a payload of 100 tonnes and to be used to remove slag efficiently.
With the use of EAFs deemed a key technology to reduce CO2 emissions in the steel industry, POSCO’s plant has a planned annual capacity of 2.5 million tonnes. Currently under construction, commissioning is due to begin in 2026.
Earlier this month, Harland & Wolff Belfast purchased two IHTs from TII Kamag.
