Visual Cargo Care (VCC), which introduced a software package for creating lashing and securing plans for heavy lift and project cargo, has rebranded and released an updated version of its flagship application, Lashing + Securing.

Based at Venlo in the Netherlands, the maritime software company changed its name to Videck earlier this year. In addition to the re-branding, the software has been re-introduced with a new user interface.

Videck provides a set of applications and tools to visualise various types of cargo on any vessel, to assist with the planning of stowage, lashing and securing.

It features reporting tools, voyage planning, and a catalogue of 2,000 vessels, with new vessels added on a daily basis and on demand, says Videck.

The cargo can be determined by length, width, height, centre of gravity, weight and footprint, while the lashing equipment includes chains, belts, twist locks, clips, timber wires, H-beams, and turnbuckles.

According to Videck, it provides real-time calculation of the sea passage and allows the user to easily make changes on the spot.

Peggy van 't Hek, co-owner and managing director of Videck, explained: "The application is based on a combination of professional calculations according to the latest standards and technologies to create the output, which can be used for method statements. It is designed for shipping lines, freight forwarders, surveyors, superintendents and insurance companies.

"All the variables which have influence on the cargo will be calculated within Videck - Lashing + Securing to the smallest details. You will see in the blink of an eye if your lashing and securing is seaworthy. Acceleration forces and dynamic effects are included."

At this stage the application is web-based, which means users are able to log in and work with the latest version of the software.

According to the Videck website, other software applications, including stowage planning, barging and lifting, are being developed.
