CEA in Seahawk shipment

April 7 - CEA Projects has handled the transportation of a Seahawk helicopter from Thailand to Australia for the Royal Thai Navy.

At Utapao Airport in Thailand's Rayong province, the helicopter was lifted onto a drop-deck trailer using a 55-tonne capacity mobile crane equipped with two modular spreader beams with nylon slings attached.

The slings and shackles were attached to the designated lift points on the Seahawk, with sling pads used to protect the fuselage of the helicopter. Chain blocks were then used to make precise alterations to the lift so that the helicopter was lifted level.

Once the helicopter was positioned on the trailer, all slings and shackles were removed and the Seahawk was lashed down, ready for its journey to CEA's headquarters in Laem Chabang.

On arrival, the helicopter was transported to one of CEA's warehouses and unloaded from the trailer, before being shrink wrapped in order to protect the valuable Seahawk from corrosive weather during shipment.

The aircraft was then transported on the drop-deck trailer to Laem Chabang port, cleaned and sprayed with Cilsin 25 to avoid any issues with the Australian authorities, and transferred onto a waiting Mafi trailer. Since the front wheels were wider than the Mafi trailer, a steel plate extension was created by CEA to secure the load safely.

Finally the trailer was moved onto a ro-ro vessel and secured for shipment to Australia.

Last year CEA Projects was employed to assist the Royal Thai Navy in an almost identical shipment.
