DHL partners with Chinese wind turbine OEMs

DHL Global Forwarding has signed cooperation agreements with several Chinese wind turbine manufacturers for the provision of its logistics services.

On behalf of Dongfang Electric Company, Envision and Goldwind, DHL will deliver components to wind farms around the world.

Steve Huang, ceo of DHL Global Forwarding Greater China, said that the global wind turbine industry is booming. It is estimated that its annual growth rate will reach 8.38 percent in the next five years, and Chinese manufacturers are slated to increase their share of the overall market.

So far, DHL has already handled 18,300 tonnes of wind turbine components for a 90 MW project in Mexico on behalf of Envision. DHL is also delivering 21,000 tonnes of generators, blades and tower sections for a Dongfang Electric project, and it will ship components across the Australian outback for a project in Agnew on behalf of Goldwind Technology.
