Liza Destiny arrives in Guyana

The Liza Destiny, Guyana’s first oil production vessel, has arrived at the Stabroek Block, according to Hess Corporation.

The floating, production, storage and offloading (FPSO) vessel arrived at the site after a 42-day journey from Singapore. The FPSO is a vital component of the Liza Phase 1 development, which involves four undersea drill centres with 17 wells.

After clearing Customs, hook-up and installation of the Liza Destiny FPSO will begin, with the development on track for start-up by the first quarter of 2020. Once on line, the Liza Phase 1 development will produce up to 120,000 barrels of oil per day.

Located in the Stabroek Block, approximately 193 km offshore Guyana, Liza Phase 1 is operated by ExxonMobil affiliate Esso Exploration and Production Guyana Limited, which holds a 45 percent interest in the block. Hess Guyana Exploration holds 30 percent interest and CNOOC Petroleum Guyana Limited, a wholly-owned subsidiary of CNOOC Limited, holds 25 percent.

In March 2018, ExxonMobil awarded Blue Water Shipping the logistics services contract for the Liza Phase 1 development. The project scope includes international transportation from the USA, Europe, the Middle East and Asia to Guyana and Trinidad, as well as Customs handling and local deliveries.
