OuYang 1 jacks it up

Aqualis Offshore has completed the jacking trial of the wind turbine installation vessel OuYang 1.

On behalf of Ouyang Offshore, the marine engineering consultancy supervised the construction and the jacking trial of the self-elevating wind turbine installation vessel.

OuYang 1 is a four-legged, DP1-enabled, self-propelled vessel with a working depth of 50 m. According to Aqualis Offshore, the vessel can raise its hull clear of the water to provide a stable platform from which offshore construction and maintenance work can be undertaken.

“The jacking trial consisted of pre-loading up to the maximum design capacity and full distance jacking of 75 m. During the trial, all relevant equipment was tested at the designed maximum 15 m air gap,” explained Peng Yonfei, China country manager at Aqualis Offshore.

The newbuild was launched at Dayang Offshore Equipment’s shipyard in Jiangsu, China in October 2018, as HLPFI reported here.

Ouyang Offshore also awarded Aqualis Offshore the contract to supervise the construction of a second wind turbine installation vessel, OuYang 2.
