Enerpac has supplied DEME Offshore (formerly Geosea), with an integrated trolley system for loading transition pieces onto a jack-up vessel.
The system was used during the foundation installation operations for the HoheSee and Albatros wind farms, offshore Germany.
The Enerpac trolley system was mounted on two 90 m steel tracks running across the deck of the jack-up installation vessel. The 500-ton (453.6-tonne) transition pieces were fastened using hydraulic cylinders in the frames; each clamping frame was powered by four electrically-driven trolleys.
During load out, the transition pieces were moved along the track to bring them within reach of the installation vessel’s own crane.
As part of the overall solution, the company also supplied an integrated hydraulic clamping and levelling system. This is controlled by a single Intellilift wireless control unit allowing for synchronised operations, said Enerpac.
“GeoSea asked us to provide them with a fast-performing solution that minimised the time in port during the load out of foundations on board their offshore installation vessels,” explained Mart Hinnen, general manager at Enerpac Heavy Lifting Technology. “The Enerpac trolley system was our response to this demand and has been successfully implemented.”
