Members of the Worldwide Project Consortium (WWPC) gathered in Milan, Italy, from October 5-8 for its 23rd annual membership conference, as the network celebrates its 25th anniversary.

WWPC’s Italian member Fioravanti served as the local host and principal sponsor for the event, which began with a rooftop welcome reception offering panoramic views of Milan’s historic centre. This was followed by two days of member-to-member sessions and presentations.
Sessions included a presentation from Giorgio Massari of the Assolombarda Research Centre on the economic outlook of the Lombardian region in comparison to the broader Italian economy; an overview of Fioravanti’s heavy lift and breakbulk project operations from Aru Zhumagalyieva and Raffello Fontanella; and a presentation from Mauro Marchiori, executive director of Venezia Terminal and Carlo Freni, breakbulk key account at FHP Group about the activities and services of their various port terminals in Italy.
Tania Pellegrini from Culturlink spoke about the importance of intercultural communication in global business, while Nicol Schiavoni, vice president of Fedespedi Giovani offered insights into youth engagement and sustainability initiatives in the freight forwarding sector.
Silvana Lauria, vice president of Children in Crisis Italy, also gave a presentation about the charity’s work ahead of the traditional charity auction. Led by auctioneer Willy Hoffmann, vice president of project sales at Ambercor Shipping (USA), the auction raised an USD25,000 for Children in Crisis Italy.
The event also saw several appointments to the WWPC board of advisors, including Elmer Sarmiento from Royal Cargo in the Philippines; Ahmed Dahshan, from Khedivial Marine Logistics (KML) in Egypt; Marcel Hafemann, from Ambercor Shipping, USA; and Ole Dammann from LS Cargo Logistics in Germany.
