Türkiye-based Kita Logistics has handled the transport of a cement mill from the port of Ambarli, Türkiye to Benin’s port of Cotonou.

The largest unit measured 4.7 m in diameter. Rather than using a breakbulk vessel, Kita opted to use a containership for the transport. The company said: “This shipment demonstrates a good example of using container vessels for moving large project cargo conveniently, instead of breakbulk vessels, especially when shipping to small ports.”

The out-of-gauge (OOG) cargoes were secured onto flatbed trailers. For the two largest pieces, nine flatrack trailers were used as a base for lashing and securing the cargo.
