Mammoet has lifted and installed 16 steel girders for the fountain view link bridge under construction at the Dubai Mall, on behalf of Eversendai.

Mammoet utilised its LR1750 crawler crane to lift and install the girders, weighing between 83 tonnes and 172 tonnes, in two sections, forming the base of the bridge.

The lifts were carried out on Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Boulevard, the main road that runs around Dubai Mall. According to Mammoet, in order to minimise disruption to traffic, only two out of the six lanes were closed for the operation, meaning the crane had to manoeuvre in a tight space.

The LR1750 also had to keep within the ground bearing pressure tolerance in order to avoid damaging water pipes underneath the area of operation.
Mammoet installed the first set of girders on the Fountain View side of the road. The whole operation was then moved to the mall side of the road where the other halves of the girders were installed, ready for connection in the middle.

Once completed, the bridge will be home to retail outlets and provide a walkway to further parking.
