Heavy lift and engineered transport provider Mammoet has started work on the Southwest Calgary Ring Road (SWCRR) project in Canada.

On behalf of KGL Contractors Partnership - a joint venture between Kiewit, Graham and Ledcor - Mammoet is assisting with the construction of 45 bridge structures on the southwest portion of the ring road.

As part of the project, Mammoet will handle more than 1,000 girders and hoist them into place, deploying a variety of trailers and cranes ranging in capacity from 65 to 500 tons (58.9 to 453 tonnes).

Mammoet's role in the project is scheduled for completion in early 2020, with the southwest portion of the ring road expected to be open to traffic in 2021.
