India-headquartered project logistics and freight forwarding firm Total Movements was on hand to execute the door-to-port delivery of a 375-tonne oversized vacuum tower, from India’s west coast to the east.

The vacuum tower measured 55.73 m x 10 m x 9.45 m. Total Movements opted for a multimodal – road and coastal – method, to bypass geographical and infrastructural limitations. The company used suitable equipment that adhered to weight and space restrictions at the load port.

“Our comprehensive logistics scope included picking up the cargo from supplier’s works, transporting it to the load port on the western coast, coastal shipping to the discharge port on the eastern coast of India, and managing the discharge process,” said the project’s team leader.

Within its scope of work, Total Movements obtained 16 electric line shutdowns along the overland route as well as carrying out major civil works at critical turning points. This included deploying more than 100 steel plates to stabilise weak sections, which ultimately ensured safe manoeuvring.

Total Movements – a member to the Worldwide Project Consortium (WWPC) in India – also charted a super-heavy lift vessel and converted it to an Indian-flagged vessel for coastal shipping, along with executing double banking operations at the discharge port under strict supervision of a marine warranty surveyor.

In June 2025, HLPFI reported that Total Movements had delivered power plant equipment from Belgium and Spain to Indonesia.
