January 30 - Rederi Aktiebolaget Nordö-Link, Finnlines' fully owned Swedish subsidiary, has purchased the ro-pax vessel Europalink from the Grimaldi Grou=

The vessel, which has a capacity of 4,215 lane metres, will sail under the Swedish flag on Finnlines' Malmö-Travemünde route and will be fitted with exhaust gas scrubbers in mid-March.

Meanwhile, Finnlines' vessel Finnwave has been extended by 30 m. It is the second vessel to be extended as part of its ship lengthening programme.

Now with a capacity of 4,192 lane metres, Finnwave has returned to service on the Uusikaupunki/Turku, Finland-Travemünde, Germany route.

By the end of May 2018, a further two vessels, Finnsun and Finnsky, will be lengthened. Finnlines also has an option to extend two additional vessels.

"We respond to the growing demand by increasing our vessels' cargo and passenger capacity. This enables us to utilise our bigger tonnage more efficiently and, also serve our customers even better," said Tom Pippingsköld, chief financial officer of Finnlines.
