Associated British Ports (ABP) has invested nearly GBP4 million (USD5.2 million) in equipment to enhance operations at the port of Newport in Wales over the past nine months.

ABP said the most recent investment included a Liebherr mobile crane and a Sany 32-tonne capacity heavy duty forklift truck – a combined investment of GBP2.3 million (USD3 million).

The forklift truck, which arrived at the port in August 2020, will assist in handling large volumes of steel coils and slabs at Newport, and allow ABP’s team to load heavier cargoes in a single lift.

Steven Harrison, port manager at Newport said: “This latest investment will continue to support and protect jobs and help us in delivering the best possible service to our customers.”
