April 30 - Air Charter Service (ACS) chartered aircraft carrying a total of 31,172 tonnes of cargo during 2013, utilising aircraft ranging from helicopters to the giant Antonov AN-225.

The largest individual piece carried by ACS weighed in excess of 100 tonnes.

The company also reported the arrangement of almost 7,500 cargo charter contracts in 2013, a 13 percent increase on 2012.

Justin Lancaster, group commercial director, commented: "This figure is the first time we've been able to accurately calculate how much freight we actually transport in a year. We feel that it (this figure) is a huge amount for a charter company as, often, chartering aircraft is a last resort when all other possibilities have been exhausted."
