November 18 - After eight months of careful preparation, the US member of the Worldwide Project Consortium, Albacor Shipping (USA) Inc arranged for safe transport and delivery of a much needed transformer.

The company's Los Angeles office managed the shipment which was over 11 metres long, 4 metres wide and 5.5 metres high. The shipment had arrived at the Port of New Orleans onboard a heavy lift vessel and was subsequently carried by barge and modular trailer to its final destination; the Prairie States generating station in Marissa, Illinois.

As can be seen from the photos, during the overland transport, three bridges had to be spanned using jumper bridges, and one bridge had to have pilings installed with support beams. The majority of materials used will remain supporting the bridge for any future loads. Special approval for this operation was granted by the US Army Corp of Engineers.
