June 12 - Bati Shipping and Trading SA has opened a new office in Zakho, Iraq to meet increasing volumes of transportation enquiries for cargoes coming into Turkish ports for final delivery to northern Iraq.

Turkey is positioning itself to become the best transferring port and distribution hub for northern Iraq through the ports of Mersin and Iskenderun.

"Northern Iraq is one of the fastest growth markets for us," said Harun Topaloglu, general manager of Bati Group.

When cargo arrives in Turkish ports, Bati has said that it will unload cargoes from vessels and load onto trucks or lowbed trailers, before preparing transit documents and Customs clearance at the Ibrahim Khalil border office.

Bati will offer door deliveries to Mosul, Erbil, Sulaymaniyah, Kirkuk and Baghdad.
