December 9 - BBC Chartering has opened a new representative office in Beijing, China.

BBC Chartering ceo Svend Andersen commented: "We are responding to the increased activity for project and heavy lift shipping services from Asia and on intra-Asia trades.

"Beijing is an important hub for project, breakbulk, and general cargo customers who ask for higher levels of shipping performance and more project related trading possibilities. We are pleased that we can help and that this step allows us to further improve our Far East network for customers."

BBC Beijing will be managed as a satellite office through the project carrier's regional hub in Singapore. The Chinese facility will be headed up by project chartering professional Ren Jie.

Jie joins BBC from BigLift Shipping's Chinese operation in Beijing, where he served as owner's representative in the country since 2010. He will be replaced by Yuxiang Guo, who becomes BigLift's new owner's representative.
