Spanish logistics service provider Bergé has started operations at its new terminal in the port of Barcelona, located at the Príncipe de España quay.

Bergé moves into Barcelona terminal

The move is part of the company’s efforts to modernise and overhaul its terminals and infrastructure. The Príncipe de España quay terminal offers more capacity for operations, which Bergé said will particularly benefit its project cargo services.

“The port of Barcelona plays a key role in this growing sector, as a gateway to the Mediterranean from ports in North America, the Caribbean, Latin America, Africa and Asia,” Bergé explained.

The terminal has a 73,733 sq m multipurpose operating area, as well as 295 m of mooring space in quay 29A and a further 331 m for ro-ro cargo on quay 30A. In order to handle special cargoes, this terminal is equipped with ship-to-shore cranes, mobile cranes, reachstackers, rubber-tyred gantry units, tractor heads and platforms.
