July 27 - Houston-based energy and maritime support services company Bisso Marine has been involved in two recent heavy lifts involving more than 750 tonnes of shipping using one of its derrick barges.

In the first, the company's derrick barge Cappy Bisso was involved in launching a 200 tonne crew boat from shore into New Orlean's Harvey Canal. The project took place for dry cargo shipping and forwarding group Midship Marine.

At Moss Point, Mississippi, the Cappy Bisso lifted a 560 tonne hull from the Pascagoula River and set it ashore at a fabrication yard. The crew had to ballast down the 700 tonne capacity derrick barge so it could pass under the 40-foot clearance of US Interstate 10 bridge.
