Germany’s Nordic Hamburg Group has placed an order for three 13,000 dwt multipurpose heavy lift vessels from China’s Wuhu Shipyard.

The vessels under the contract, which also includes an option for two further units, offer a cargo hold capacity of 26,500 cu m and a combined lifting capacity of 500 tonnes. According to Wuhu Shipyard, this enables the efficient transport of oversized cargoes, such as wind power equipment, as well as various general goods.

Through multiple technologies, including a selective catalytic reduction (SCR) system and optimised hull design, the ships meet the highest energy efficiency and emission standards, achieving a reduction in fuel consumption of over 20 percent compared to older vessels, and are equipped for navigation in ice conditions.

They will join Nordic Hamburg Group’s managed fleet of 86 vessels.
