“Our experience with Liebherr has been very positive. We are highly satisfied with the performance of the LS 250 ship cranes, offering excellent deck coverage and a balanced combination of outreach and lifting capacities,” explained Bernd Böning, director newbuilding at Briese Schiffahrt.

The LS 250 ship crane has a maximum outreach of 36 m and a low deadweight of 150 tonnes; it can lift up to 250 tonnes at an 18 m reach. The crane’s column features a slim, tapered design, including the boom which is also more streamlined than that of previous models. The cranes have been designed to comply with the requirements of the St. Lawrence Seaway and Great Lakes regulations.

Available deck area is larger thanks to a high pivot point between the boom and the column, meanwhile less installation space is required due to the slim boom head being easy to integrate next to the deckhouse. The crane is fitted with the Litronic control system which ensures the crane operates at optimal speed for any given load without manual intervention.

Earlier this year, HLPFI reported that dship Carriers had ordered eight LS 250 ship cranes from Liebherr.
