May 30 - The 1,000th gas turbine manufactured by Siemens in Berlin has arrived at Broekman Logistics Breakbulk Terminal (Project Services) in Rotterdam, ready for shipment to Qatar.

HLPFI reported on May 11 that Siemens was preparing to ship its milestone gas turbine to the Umm Al Houl combined cycle power plant in Qatar.

The 1,000th turbine is one of six gas turbines being delivered to the plant, which will have a total generating capacity of 2.5 GW and should be operational by mid 2018.

From Siemens' Berlin factory, the turbine was transported by road to Westhafen port, before being shipped to Rotterdam via barge along inland waterways. It will be loaded onto a heavy lift ship at the Broekman terminal and travel to Qatar via the North Sea, Atlantic Ocean, Mediterranean Sea, Suez Canal and Red Sea.
