July 7 - The Hamburg-based port and logistics services provider, Buss, has taken over a new multipurpose terminal in Eemshaven, the Netherlands, from Groningen Seaports, writes Jamie May.

BUSS group is the majority shareholder in the operator of the new multi-purpose terminal, Orange Blue Terminals BV.

The Orange Blue Terminal Eemshaven will initially operate a 260 m long quay which will be extended to 630 m by 2012.

The terminal equipment, the geographical location and a draft of 14 m allows the new terminal to handle all types of cargoes says the BUSS Group, adding that another advantage of the new location is its proximity to the many companies located locally from the energy industry.

Buss Group managing director Heinrich Ahlers says: "With our new terminal, we have taken a significant step towards the future. Our new location offers optimal conditions for the offshore industry in the North Sea.
