India’s Garden Reach Shipbuilders & Engineers (GRSE) has signed a contract with Germany’s Carsten Rehder for the construction of four hybrid multipurpose vessels, plus two options.
With a combined value of USD62.44 million, the ships are 120 m long and 17 m wide, with a maximum draught of 6.75 m. They are designed to carry 7,500 tonnes of cargo in a single large cargo hold, capable of accommodating bulk, general and project cargoes. They will also incorporate battery-assisted hybrid propulsion systems for enhanced fuel efficiency.
This agreement is in addition to the an ongoing newbuild project being executed by the yard for Carsten Rehder for eight multipurpose vessels.
