August 17 - Afriguide Logistics, Project Cargo Network member in South Africa, has transported the Caterpillar 990H Wheel Loader 1,800 km from an open cast mine in Maun, Botswana to Durban, South Africa, for subsequent shipment to Monrovia, Liberia.

At 80 tonnes, with dimensions of 12.555 m x 4.183 m x 5.070 m (266 cu m), and almost totally intact, with only the cab, bucket and ROPS removed, the machine proved a challenging cargo. Afriguide director Brad Stephens stated the company faced a tight deadline to meet the only liner vessel capable of shipping the CAT for several weeks.

In spite of some administrative delays at the Botswanan border and the necessity to custom build some skids to fix the cargo's loose parts, the Caterpillar 990H arrived in the port terminal in time to be loaded onto the vessel, minutes before the ship was due to set sail for Liberia.
