Caucasian partnership formed

February 26 - Georgia's Logistics Solutions has joined forces with Turkish heavy haulier Hareket to execute projects together in the Caucasus region.

As a result of the agreement, Logistics Solutions gains access to a large fleet of specialised equipment for the transport and installation of heavy and oversized cargoes; while Hareket gains a strong logistics partner in Georgia - a strategic location on the Caucasus transport corridor.

The partnership has already been awarded its first contract by Vestas for the transportation and installation of wind turbine components for Georgia's first wind power plant.

Scheduled to arrive at the Georgian Port of Poti in August 2016 in two shipments, the wind turbine components will then be delivered 220 km overland to the project site. The project is a particularly challenging one for the two companies, said Logistics Solutions, as no such cargo has ever been moved within Georgia before.

The 20.7 MW wind power plant, which is being funded by the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) and Georgian Energy Development Fund, is scheduled for completion by September 2016.
