Duluth seeks share of federal stimulus

February -13- With the USD789 billion US federal stimulus bill expected to be signed Monday, many local government agencies already have their hands out.

In Minnesota, the Duluth Port Authority has an extensive wish list for the USD31.6 million that the city authority is expected to request.

It is understood that the port authority wants money to help renovate its Garfield D dock, which involves driving new sheet piling and filling in eroded areas. If repaired, the dock could be used to handle a variety of shipping activity, including project cargoes and slab steel transport.
