Fagioli completes complex generator lift in India

June 1 - Fagioli India has successfully lifted and moved a massive generator unit at a power station in India.

The project took place in Amravati and, in light of site conditions, Fagioli proposed the use of a modular triangular tower structure along with cross-head beams supported with a hydraulic gantry for the lifting operation and movement of the generator stator which weighed 230 tonnes.

Fagioli owns and operates a large inventory of strand jacks equipment together with a comprehensive range of modular towerlift support structures, including top steelwork arrangements such as crossheads and spreader beams, medium range cranes and gantry lifting systems, screw jacks and crawler cranes with hoisting capacity up to 1,200 tonnes.

The generator was offloaded from a trailer, which was placed directly below the lifting position and lifted with help of Fagioli's specialised structure which comprised of L-300 strand jacks positioned over an EZ600 gantry. Before its final positioning, the generator was rotated and aligned into position.

After reaching the desired height, the generator stator was skidded for horizontally for approximately 19 m with the help of the EZ gantry self-propelling system before placing it in the final position.

To date, Fagioli India, using its own equipment, has lifted and skidded 73 generators, 142 boiler drums, 3 Goliath cranes and 10 reactors till date, as well as numerous other miscellaneous lifts and projects.

Fagioli India Pvt Ltd was established in 2000 as a subsidiary of Fagioli SpA of Italy.
