Fagioli PSC completes 50th boiler drum lifting project

January 15 - Fagioli PSC India, a joint venture of the Gemini Group, Fagioli and Fagioli UK has successfully completed its 50th boiler drum lifting project for JSW Energy at the four 300MW coal-based thermal power station project at Jaigad, India.

The lifting of a boiler drum at a thermal power plant is an important milestone. Since 2004, Mumbai-based Fagioli PSC India has lifted almost 10,000 tonnes of boiler drums, averaging one drum lift a month. The project cargo forwarder undertakes vertical lifts, inclined lifts and lifts involving complex combinations of vertical and inclined lifting with lateral shifting.

Fagioli PSC India has also undertaken significant heavy lifting activity in connection with generators and has lifted 18 generators for various private and state-owned power plants, including three lifted in succession for the power giant NTPC (National Thermal Power Corporation) at its Kahalgaon project. Each generator weighed 275 tonnes and had to be unloaded from the railway wagon, lifted, rotated and then placed on a foundation 17m above the ground.

Commenting on the occasion, Rajiv Sethi, managing director, Fagioli India PSC says: "Currently, while the construction industry is experiencing a slowdown, this is indeed a huge achievement for us. The company is all set to ride through such trying times and achieve the kind of accelerated growth it is aiming for."

The company also lifted India's first India's first 600 MW, boiler drum weighing 300 tonnes, at the start of the year
