January 11 - GRIEG Star Shipping, a leading provider of specialised sea-transportation, has introduced a fifth ship into its North Atlantic service.

Effective February 6, the 39,749 dwt Star Eagle will enter into the AC Service (Northern Europe to US Gulf / Mexico) which sails calls at Rotterdam, Antwerp, Bremen, Altamira, Houston, Mobile and Wilmington before returning to Rotterdam.

Grieg Star says that the introduction of this additional capacity is based on the solid demand for space from customers in various cargo segments.

In addition to the total capacity increase, this service upgrade will improve schedule reliability and sailing frequency (2 - 3 departures per month).

The company states: "With this development, we continue a long and proud tradition in the North Atlantic, where we are operating regular services for more than 30 years. We are therefore glad that we can provide our customers with this product improvement."

GRIEG Star Shipping carries a wide range of project cargoes for the energy sector (including power generators and turbines), windpower equipment, railcars, cranes, oil and gas industry equipment, cable reels, boats and other breakbulk cargo as well as rolling stock; such as agriculture and construction equipment, mining equipment and other cargo for the automotive industry.

Following the recent introduction of through transport from Europe to the West Coast of South America (via Houston), the fifth ship will also support Grieg Star's growth strategy in other geographical areas.
