Hamburg nears double-digit export growth in 2008

February -9- The Port of Hamburg enjoyed bullish project cargo activity last year, recording growth in both import and export movements leading to an overall increase in volume over 2007's total.

In 2008, the multi-purpose terminals in the Port of Hamburg handled 193,000 tonnes of import project cargo, an increase of 3.0%, and 529,000 tonnes of export cargo, an increase of 9.1%. This produced a total of 722,000 tonnes, a rise of 7.4 0n overall traffic compared with 2007.

Overall freight traffic at the port reached 104.4 million tonnes in 2008, falling less than one percent over 2007's total.
