April 7 - Almajdouie Logistics was contracted by SK Engineering & Construction (SK E&C) to transport four advanced gas-cooled reactors (AGRs) and four solvent filters for the Wasit Gas Plant in Saudi Arabia.

The four AGRs, each of which weighed 1,394 tonnes and had the dimensions 56.9 m x 8.2 m x 7.9 m, were transported from a fabrication facility in Zamil-Rabigh to a jetty in Rabigh using two 36-axle SPMTs.

On arrival at the jetty, the cargo was rolled onto a charter barge and delivered to Jubail, where Customs clearance was obtained and the reactors were rolled off and delivered to the jobsite.

The four additional AGR solvent filters, each of which weighed 281 tonnes and had the dimensions 20 m x 9 m x 9.4 m, were transported in the same way from a manufacturing facility in Zamil-Jeddah to the port of Jubail and onto the jobsite.

The route from Jeddah to the jetty in Rabigh required various obstacle to be removed, and the Ministry of Transport had previously objected to the transport, but after discussions with the authorities, Almajdouie obtained all the approvals to move the cargo.

SK E&C is the lead engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) contractor for the Wasit Gas Plant, which is being built by Saudi Aramco and is scheduled for completion this year.

Almajdouie Logistics is a member of both the Worldwide Project Consortium (WWPC) and the Cargo Equipment Experts (CEE) network for Saudi Arabia.
